The British Columbia Curriculum is a great and simple resource that I have learned to use in my journey in becoming a teacher in British Columbia. The curriculum is based on the “know-do-understand” model. This is important within the classroom as a teacher because the focus of the curriculum and our teaching isn’t only on the teaching but also the importance of experiencing (the do) for student to understand the content.
In my classroom, I want my students to be able to not only learn the content but to be able to experience it first hand and to connect it to their daily lives to further their understanding. I believe this curriculum allows for teachers to have the flexibility to allow their class to experience and connect their learning as well as simply teaching.
